Body Harmony

What is Harmony  and how can it help you?

Body Harmony is a Transformation Art. The Art of transformation is not in changing something, because, our circumstances, our posture to this point are as they are, and you already know that if you change the way you do something, it doesn’t necessarily provide the results you are after. The art of transformation is in transcending and old way of being, an old way of thinking, an old way of breathing or moving, by bringing consciousness, awareness, breath and movement to areas of your body where there may not have been movement, and creating something completely new and previously unknown.

How do you know to change what you don’t know is not working. You don’t. But through Body Harmony, you and your practitioner work together to  bring forth more of you. Your practitioner is your coach, bringing out the best of you, helping you to move beyond your perceived limitations into new ways of being.

You develop awareness so that you can respond to situations more efficiently and effectively. But most delightfully, are the times when you discover that you are responding to a situation so differently, that you (or someone else) don’t even recognise yourself in this new behaviour. When your physical body moves freely and efficiently, there are no hooks for an old behaviour to catch on, to draw you into that old way of being or responding.

In Body Harmony you develop your awareness of your body, and through that can bring about a sense of harmony within yourself .
Body Harmony brings together many elements to create this unification.

Perception

Whilst what happens in your life is what happens, your perception of what has happened, and your responses to those perceptions affect how you live life now.
Whatever has happened into your life up until now, and whatever stories you have consciously or unconsciously created around those events affects how you live your life now. Whilst we cannot change the circumstances that have led up to now, transformation of perception is possible. Your perceptions are a result of the relationships of posture, breath, and movement.

Posture

Our posture reflects our thoughts, our perceptions, our way of being. How can you have the most efficient  posture for you? So your posture allows movement through your body, energy flows easily, your breath fills your body and releases with ease and pleasure, your relationship to gravity is easy, so nothing is held up against the energy of gravity, and your connection through your body allows you to walk easily on the earth. The efficiency of posture is in the ease, and how can that ease be created in your body.

Breath

How easily do you breathe? Take a few breaths to explore how deeply you breath, how fully do you breathe, where can you feel your breath travelling to beyond your awareness of your lungs? Can you feel it in your belly, in your legs, your feet, your hands? What would you need to do to feel it travel to those places? Did you even know it could?
How easy is your inhale? How easily are you inspired?
How easy is your exhalation? How easily do you let go?
Breath is one of the key ways to develop Harmony in your body. In body Harmony you learn many techniques to use your breath more effectively and efficiently, producing freedom and ease of movement in your body, and an easier mindset.

Movement

Movement is the bringer of life. When you feel stuck in life, you feel as though you cant move. When movement is introduced into (not around) an area of stuckness, constriction or restriction, you experience freedom.
In Body Harmony we introduce movement into areas as a mode of freeing then from their restrictions, and reconnecting them to the whole of you. So that you can move easily and fluidly. Movement may be introduced through touch or breathing techniques, initiating the movement of tissues, and fluids of your body. Before, after and sometimes during sessions you are offered the opportunity to explore the different qualities of your movement, and its effects in walking or other movements.

Touch

The avenue for all to bring these aspects together is through Touch. The conscious touch of your practitioner, on your comfortably clothed body, brings your awareness into your present time experience, and invites you into the dance of discovering your own body, freeing up your restrictions, breathing easier, moving easier, and living life.

Canberra Body Harmony School

When I had my first Body Harmony session, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But what I got, was the beginning of a whole new relationship to my body, my self, and my life. I discovered I had choices, that prior to having the session, I did not even consider possible. I found that I moved easier, more freely. And I was thinking and behaving more proactively.

As I left the session, I knew I needed to learn this, so asked about classes. Through the classes I discovered new ways of being. I learnt to let go – not because someone was telling me to, but as a process of cellular education, learning from the inside out how to do things differently, and more efficiently.

When the opportunity arose to I began to organise seminars. I recognised the benefits not only to me but also to everyone else who participated. I began organising teachers coming to Canberra.

Canberra Body Harmony School developed in order to teach people how to bring their bodies into harmony with their thoughts and actions, creating the life they want to live, through experiential learning. Some of these skills are learned through taking sessions, and we also offer workshops which provide a deeper experience and far reaching results. Workshops then allow you to take even more effective sessions, and fast track you to creating your life the way you want to live it.

Now, Canberra Body Harmony School presents a number of seminars throughout each year.

Classes are designed to give participants access to the wisdom that is within them, through experiences which support and facilitate easier breath, movement, easy and supported posture, and behaviors that support the fulfillment of their goals and intentions.

Canberra Body Harmony School workshops, are ultimately, workshops towards living a more fulfilled life. Hence anyone can participate in our workshops. Some of those people may wish to become Body Harmony practitioners, so the training also fulfils the International Body Harmony Guilds requirements for training practitioners and consultants. Workshops participation involves working with your personal goals and intentions, and through working with those in mind with your partner, you learn the skills of the process. This learning is not by rote, but by experience.
